Bearded Dragon Care Sheet – 6 Top Tips

This bearded dragon care sheet will hopefully help you better understand and care for your Bearded Dragon

I want to stress the importance of knowing what a bearded dragon needs to be healthy and happy, BEFORE you purchase one!

Healthy Looking Bearded Dragon:

Whether you decide to purchase your bearded dragon from a breeder or pet store there are certain things you must look for before you purchase your beardie.

They should be alert and active. They should be watching you with interest and curiosity. Their eyes should be clear and bright, you shouldn’t be able to see any puss or anything in the eyes.

When looking at their bodies you should look for any sores or infections of any kind, especially if the beardie is housed with other beardies. Male beardies will fight!

Make sure that where ever you purchase your beardie you have a reasonable time frame to return him if you need to. usually 14 days to a month is good, and that you take him to your Vet as soon as you can and have him checked over carefully.

Bearded Dragon Habitat

The bearded dragon needs room to run around, not climb too much. These pets are from Australia and are use to being able to roam free in the desert area. The best enclosure for beardies in my opinion is a glass aquarium. The aquarium should be big enough for them to run back and forth, but not that big they can not catch their crickets.

Beardies 3 to 7 inches can be kept in a 10 gal. aquarium while 7 to 12 in. beardies can be kept in a 20 gal. tank. Beardies over a foot long, which is 12 in., should be kept in a 40 gal. tank.

Make sure you have a Basking Lamp and a UV Bulb. The uv/uvb rays provide vitamin D which helps with the body’s ability to adsorb calcium. The temp should be around 90 degrees and 100 degrees during the day, and during the night the temp shouldn’t go below 70 degrees at all during the night, however if it does your beardie can survive one night if it drops that low then you should invest in a night heating light.

Make sure your beardie has a cool side and a basking side in his tank. Beardies love to bask during the day but you need to keep his food and water on the cool side

The best way to heat a glass aquarium is to use what is called under-the-tank heating pad, you can get one of these at most all pet stores. You do not, I repeat, do not want to use any kind of heating rocks or fixtures in the tank your beardie can reach.

Now this is a very tricky section, why? Because each dragon is different and it seems to depend on your region. I recommend reptile carpet because its easy to clean, its inexpensive, and it comes in variety of colors and sizes.

With young beardies try to use the felt type carpets, other types have loops that their nails will catch and can harm them.

Water Needs

Bearded dragons need access to water all day and all night. Their natural habitat in Australia provides water for them from the dew on the plant leaves and ground. They are use to drinking this way and a lot of beardies do not drink from any type of water dish.

It is important to make sure they are misted regularly with a misting spray bottle. For babies and juveniles mist them daily and also mist their perch and the sides of the glass aquarium. You should put enough mist on their heads until they no longer drink it or run off.

Also, your beardie needs to absorb moisture their the skin pores, so they should be bathed in a tub of water that comes no higher than their elbows for at least 15 to 20 minutes. You should do this daily for babies and juveniles and weekly for adults.

Proper Diet for a Bearded Dragon:

Bearded Dragons are omnivorous, this simply means they eat both meat and vegetables. Now they can not eat just anything, they have a very special diet you must follow to keep them happy and healthy.

The size of their food should no bigger than the space between their eyes, if given too big of food it can cause impaction and other health issues, so be careful on the size of food, any food items, you feed your beardie.

One thing some new owners don’t seem to realize is that baby beardies and juvenile beardies need to eat 2 to 3 times a day! Not just once a day.

Borshch Or Blintz? The Russian Foods You Simply Must Try

You may have heard about Russian food, but had very few opportunities to sample any of the nation's understated cuisine. Visiting the country is the perfect opportunity to expand your Russian food and drink knowledge beyond just vodka and chicken kievs. If you make it though a Russian voyage without trying any, if not all, of the following, you've not been to Russia!

This is probably one of Russia's defending dishes. You may wonder what exactly is so amazing about a bowl of cage in meat stock. It is a staple and representations Russia's rich history. This soup from the Soviet kitchen was eaten by peasants and at the high table of the Kremlin alike. It gets its aptly colored redness from its main ingredient – the beetroot.

Borshch is somewhat of an impostor in that it originated from the Ukrainian, but is now thought of as quintessentially Russian cuisine. The name for the soup comes from the Slav 'borshchevik' which refers to hogweed, a herb whose leaves and stalks were commonly used for broths. It can be served both hot and cold and usually is complemented with boiled potatoes or a dollop of Slivki (sour cream).

Other soups found in Russia include Okroshka, a cool, fresh broth made with Kvass (bread beer) and vegetables such a cucumber and spring onions, and Solyanka, a thick soup with a bit of a spicy kick commonly containing either meat fish or mushrooms.

Borshch is traditionally made with pork fat, but the Jewish variation will use an alternative to comply with the kosher food laws.

Every nation has its dumpling, and Pelmeni is the Russian version. The filling is wrapped in unleavened dough made from flour, water and sometimes egg. They originated from Tartastan in Siberia but some believe they derived from China, hence the use of spices. The filling is typical a meatball-type mixture.

Beef Stroganov

Stroganov has its origins in 19th century Russia. The dish of sautéed beef in a sauce with sour cream, onions and mushrooms is thought to get its name from Russian diplomat, Count Pavel Strognanoff.

These are small buns, which have been baked or fried and contain a variety of fillings. It is probably the Russian counterpart to the pie. They come both in sweet and savory, with fillings varying from stewed apples and fresh fruit to cottage cheese, vegetables, boiled eggs, fish and meat.

They get their common golden appearance from an egg gaze before they are cooked. Greeks and Latvians also have their own version of the 'stuffed bun'.

Also known as Blini, it is a traditional Russian pancake not too different from a crepe. Pancakes in Russia are usually made with yeast batters, which is left to rise and then diluted with water or milk. They are then baked in a traditional oven, but nowdays they are usually pan-fried. These are best served with sour cream, jam, honey or caviar.

Blini are a staple food on Russian tables and are also eaten during the spring festivals of Maslenitsa.

Italians are not the only ones who love ice cream. Morozhenoe is sold in kiosks in the cities and found in every restaurant whether covered in fruit, chocolate or nuts. They do not stop in the summer. Their love for ice cream is an all-year one, which is a somewhat unusual guilty pleasure considering the bitterness of Russian winters!

What Do You Need To Know About Fresh Water Fishing?

During Summer and Spring, big fish are on the spawning beds and this is the best time to go fresh water fishing. It's easier for you to find them and catch them one by one. Just make sure not to catch all of them during this period since you're only practicing catch and release or else you'll end up not getting any fish to catch in the future.

Finding freshwater fishing guides can be challenging and just keep in mind that you also have to consider the right baits and get a guide that will put you on a bedding fish.

It is really fun way to catch fish just by sight fishing in the freshwater.

The most important thing this time is how to choose and use the proper baits. If you're going to purchase a guide, make sure that they supply the bait if you do not want to use your favorite artificial lure that usually done by most fresh waterfishing enthusiasts. Wild shiners is the best bait that can catch big fish and it is already proven by many, this bait is probably the bait that they will go to give you when you purchase a guide.

By State, there are rules and regulations you must have to hide and check out when going for a local fresh water fishing that is if you're planning on keeping your catch. If the spawning are getting slower or going down States typically issue orders to limit months where you can keep the fish to ensure that the fish has a successful season of breeding.

How to Write a Will

Just thinking about how to write a will will be enough to put some people off. It does not have to be a morbid experience. It is a necessity and makes for good financial sense.

Start by organizing what you need: outline your objectives, inventory your assets, estimate your outstanding debts and prepare a list of family members and other beneficiaries. Use this information to carefully consider how you want to distribute your assets.

Ask yourself lots of questions: Is it important to pass my property to my heirs in the most tax-efficient manner? Do I need to establish a trust to provide for my spouse or other beneficiaries? How much money will my grandchild need for college?

Taking inventory of the assets may be the key to making a will. Assets should be mentioned in your will. Any items not specifically mentioned may be addressed in a catchall clause of your will called a residual clause, which generally states, "I give the reminder of my estate to …" Without this clause, items not specifically mentioned will be distributed in accordance with law.

Outstanding debts usually will be paid by your estate before your beneficies receive their shares. You may want to clear up debts that you know will be a problem, or make specific provisions for payment of those debts in your will.

Be Specific

Remember to be specific and clear when naming beneficiaries. For example, state the person's full name as well as his or her relationship to you (child, cousin, friend, etc.) so your executor will know exactly who you mean. Clarity will also help to prevent challenges to your will.

Do not forget to get the will witnessed. A witness should not be a beneficiary under the will. Only one copy should be signed.

Once your will is written, store it in a safe place that is accessible to others after your death. If you had a solicitor prepare your will, have him or her retain a copy with a note stating where the original can be found.

The end of your life is something you probably do not want to dwell on, but thinking about what will happen to your loved ones and your assets and personal possessions is important.

Making sure you've done all you can to make their lives easier will give you peace of mind. And once your will is drawn, you will not have to think about it again unless something significant in your life changes.

What Are The Best Vitamins For Women Over Forty?

Maybe you are on the lookout for the best vitamins for women over forty. If you are particular about women's health, then you must be aware of the fact that the nutritional needs of women change as they grow old, and going for just about any kind of vitamins in the market today would no longer do.

Women approaching middle life have plenty of issues confronting them – midlife crisis, menopausal, wrinkles, and low immunity, among them. It's only appropriate that they consume supplements that are able to target all these issues while at the same time keeping them at the peak of their health. The best vitamins for women over forty, in this case, would be those that have Vitamin E, the B Vitamins, and Vitamin C.

Why Vitamin E? Vitamin E has long been considered as the pill for beauty. Vitamin E restores dull hair and gives the skin a healthy glow. That is why if you take time to read the labels, you will see Vitamin E as one of the components in beauty products, from hair care products down to the toes. Vitamin E is, too, a powerful antioxidant, and this probably explains why it's been considered a beauty pill. Antioxidants fight off free radicals that damage the cells which can lead to loss of skin elasticity and wrinkling. Vitamin E is available in tablet form simply as Vitamin E, and this idealally is taken at least once a day to maintain beauty and mask the signs of aging.

The B Vitamins, specifically Vitamin B6 and B12 would be beneficial to women over forty, too. Why, because these vitamins have very important roles in hormonal activity. Everyone knows that hormonal activities tend to be erratic at the start of the pre-menopausal period, and taking B vitamins help to calm the hormones so the impact would not be as much. During pre-menopause, a woman may experience periods that come either early or late, and the blood flow is sometimes scanty, other times excessive. There may be periods of severe menstrual pain, too. Taking B Vitamins helps to tone down these signs and symptoms, that is why for a woman over forty, B Vitamins should become an essential part of one's lifestyle.

Vitamin C boosts one's immunity. This is not exactly anything new to you anymore, yet in the midst of all the wonder supplements out there, people tend to give less importance to Vitamin C. This is a mistake because higher doses of Vitamin C are in fact necessary so one does not get sick easily.

What Is Your Model Of Marriage? How To Understand Your Marriage Model And What You Are Building

When people build a marriage they work from a model or concept that they are looking to follow. People have expectations, desires and even dreams of what marriage will be for them. In the Western world our ideas of marriage are large driven by romance and sentiment.

Having studied marriage around the world, in African tribes, European families, South American homes, Pacific Islands, Asian communities and America, England and Australia as well, I have noted that certain popular models prevail.

While romance is the Western ideal, people have come up with various ideas about how a marriage should work in practice. There are several models that people consider appropriate. People look for a spouse who has a similar model or who will fit in with their own expectations. If they have not clarified this ahead of time then there could be quite some tension if the husband and wife work from different models.

What is your marriage all about? Can you see yourself in any of these common concepts or practical realities?

Assigned Duties

A common model is that the couple will have various assigned duties in the marriage. The wife, for example, may be the home-maker while the husband is the main income earner. The wife may take care of the home while the husband looks after the yard and externals. The wife may attend to the children's school activities, while the husband attends to their sporting interests.

The model gives each spouse their assigned roles. If a spouse does not do their part properly the other can prompt them about it. One will not take on the role of the other unless there is some prior agreement or a necessity arises.

Mutual Obligation

In the same vein as the Assigned Duties model, the idea of Mutual Obligation is that both husband and wife expect to get certain benefits, such as sexual intimate, security and comfort, out of the marriage, but accept that they share obligations as well. They see that there should be a level of fairness in the distribution of responsibilities, based on interests and abilities.

The 50-50 Partnership

This takes the idea of Mutual Commitment to the point of negotiated equality. This model is often promoted by wives who are afraid of being lorded over by a man. They choose the 50:50 partnership model because it sounds quite equitable and fair, while allowing them room to resist any placement made on them by a husband, especially if the husband does not measure up.

It's a Man's World

This model is based on the idea that the man is king and the woman is blessed to be his bride. The woman's pay-off is that she gets to be wife to a man who she considers desirable, because of this image or his ability to provide. While certain macho males will hold to this model it also works for those who are wealthy or who have some other attribute that makes them a good catch. The wife can have the benefits of the money, fame or social standing, but the price is that that she must make the man happy.

The Idolised Woman

This model appeals to those men who feel a strong need for a woman in their life. They may seek sexual favors or look for a strong woman who will mother them. They consider it a privilege to be married to their wife and will do all in their power to make and keep her happy. The woman is happy to have such a devotion, but usually finds her husband quite unsatisfactory when the height of his focus is only her.

Something Is Better Than Nothing

This kind of marriage works for those who do not expect to get a particularly good deal out of life and who accept the opportunities that come along on the basis that there may not be anything else. A couple may marry and make the best of the situation, while neither is particularly impressed with the other or with the marriage.

Let's See If It Works

Many people enter into marriage with no real confidence that the relationship will work. They give it a shot, but have no real understanding of how to build a solid marriage. If it works they are happy, but if it falls apart, they feel that there was nothing they could do about it.

The Obligatory Duty

Some people feel as if marriage is something they must do and end because it is expected of them. They find a spouse, or have an arranged marriage, and do their part as best they know how. They suffer the indignities, put up with the problems and are glad for the happy moments. Marriage is not something that excites them, but is something that is expected of them and they yield to that social pressure.

The Contract

In view of so many marriages disintegrating and people being left with pain over asset distribution and sorting out the mess, the idea of a contract is increasingly popular. With second interviews, people are more likely to define who owns what and what will happen if they divorce. Pre-nuptial agreements are occurring more commonly, to prepare for the eventuality of divorce. Whether anything is ever written or signed, the concept of the contract is common. The idea is that each spouse is only bound to the marriage if the other person raises their end of the bargain.

In my books, MARRIAGE HORIZONS and MENDING MARRIAGES, I investigate the bigger picture of marriage. But for now, consider these questions. Is your marriage what it is supposed to be? Have you built something worthy of your life and your spouse? What are you doing about making your marriage better? Find out more about how to make a marriage work wonderfully well go to www.FamilyHorizons.Net

The most effective marriages are those where the couple work ON their marriage, not just IN the marriage. The more determined you are to be the best "you" you can be and to have the best marriage you can have, the more likely you are to move forward and enjoy a better life.

However, let me give you a word of caution. Do not assume that your ideas are right just because they suit you. And do not assume you are right just because you can convince your spouse to go along with you. The smartest people look for exemplars, mentors and benchmarks that lead them beyond their personal best, to things that are better still.

I congratulate you for taking the time to read this. You obviously want to have your marriage succeeded. My prayer is that your marriage is successful and blessed, and a role model for the next generation.

Engineering Surveys

Engineering surveys are those that are associated with all aspects of engineering design, such as topographic, as-built and layout. Engineering surveys are usually much more advanced than those created by civil engineers and serve additional purposes.

They must be conducted by licensed surveyors. There are several exams and qualifications that a surveyor must attain before being able to practice engineering surveying in the USA.

What are they used for?

The main purpose of is to assess and determine the conditions of a building site either pre or post construction. They can also help assist builders, architects and civil engineers in preparing base plans.

Engineering and building surveys are an essential part of all large building constructions including roads, railways, dams, bridges and residential areas. Civil engineers in particular rely heavily on them.

Engineering surveys are a very broad category and include a range of different types to suit different purposes.

Typically they can be divided into three survey categories: planning, design and construction.

Planning surveys are completed prior to construction work at a particular site. Within planning surveys there are also investigation and channel alignment surveys. Investigation surveys can include such elements as: vertical control, gully, valley and channel cross-section surveys, and reservoir area surveys. In many cases all these different types of engineering surveys will be required to get a full picture of the site situation.

Design surveys are a group of surveys that are done during the design phase of construction – after the planning have been completed. Types nclude: structure site and channel surveys.

Finally, construction surveys are a very important category of engineering surveys. These can be done both during and after construction has been completed. Their purpose is both to keep a check over the construction process as well as to maintain the buildings once they are complete. Embankment, principal spillway, existing channel and emergency spillways surveys are just some examples of construction surveys that may be required.

A variety of methods are used for conducting these surveys – and the methods will change depending on the particular job at hand.

One of the most modern and cost-effective methods of conducting engineering surveys is using a method called lidar surveying.

Lidar surveying uses three-dimensional scanners to provide high definition measurements for use. They provide the highest possible level of detail for both interior and exterior buildings. This method, however, is only suitable for use with already-built buildings, not prior to construction.

Engineering surveys can cover a wide range of features relating to a building or construction site, even including the underground waterways. The types of features they are required to add to their survey will influence what apparatus and tools they use.

There are a range of apparatus used by professional surveyors, including theodolites, total stations, dopplers and GPS.

Some of the methods engineering surveyors may use include: differential leveling, which uses a tripod and mounted telescope to measure angles and lengths; and trigonometric leveling, using the mathematics of trigonometry.

There are also usually several people involved in the surveying process. Engineering and building surveys are very complex and cannot be completed alone. Some of the workers that may be involved include: field engineers, hydrologists and planning engineers.
